The council have closed the car parks in Salthill. They're still full of cars but they'll probably empty out a bit after the bingo and cinema closes.

Met has issued a Status Red wind warning for counties Galway, Mayo and Donegal due to high winds as Storm Isha arrives. The warning is in place for Galway and Mayo from 5pm and is valid until 9pm.

That looks a very flimsy structure, considering where it was placed. I'd love to know what planning permission was needed and was it followed.

How do you mean? The marine red warning? The regular red warning for Galway and Mayo is still 5-9pm.

And two dead and one injured in two separate collisions. The one in Louth is clearly connected to the storm (hit a tree in the road) and the one in Mayo in all likelihood (single vehicle crash on straight stretch of good quality national road in the middle of the 'red warning' period).

I really don't know how you decided I was passing judgement on the driver?

All I was doing was adding to Mrs. O'Bumble's list of real impacts from the storm by pointing out that the two road deaths in the last 24 hours should probably be included.

The Louth one was clearly connected and I pointed out that the Mayo one was likely connected because it occurred during the storm and on good stretch of road where you wouldn't normally expect to have a single car collision. Your article seems to confirm exactly that; that the Mayo collision should also be viewed as connected to the storm. No judgement being passed at all.

They closed the entrance's of Salthill and Toft but people just drove in against the flow for the exit from what I seen on the day when down there.

dunno how you got judgement was passed but i will pass judgement, speed kills and not to mention driving in red warning. i know that stretch very well, red warning or just another day in the week the road is so good now it puts in a false sense of security. The old N17 claimed many lives especially at certain sections were lethal black spots just a shame it took so long.
