"Not registered on network" Smsung Flip 3 when going Vodafone->Virgin

I unlocked phone then put in a virgin sim and got this error when attempting calls "Not registered on network" Do i need to do something with Virgin to make this happen? Their call centre staff are beyond bad and not very helpful - they really cheaped out
