Help to buy maximum relief

    Hi folks,

Myself and my partner are self building and have applied to the HTB scheme, availing of the last 4 years tax each, and received our application approval today, however it mentions that the maximum relief we are allowed is a little over €8000.

We have trawled back through our statements of liability and we have paid almost 40k in income tax over the last 4 years between us. Is there some miscalculation here or what way did they arrive at this amount? We have not submitted details about our build but we have submitted our approval in principle from mortgage lender that displays that our home will be valued at more than 300k.

Any clarification on this would be great.
