Samsung Galaxy A14 - no NFC - what won't I be able to do?

I have a second hand A20e, and the battery seems to be getting old.

The battery could go from 50% to 20% in a few mins.

So I think I need a new phone.

I went into a mobile phone repair shop, maybe looking for a more recent used Samsung Galaxy A-series, maybe a used S series.

I walked out five mins later with a new A14, bit of an impulse purchase.

I then discovered it doesn't have NFC.

What won't I be able to do, without NFC?

    I know that I can't top-up the Leap card.

Does it also mean that Google Wallet won't work?

    Anything else?

    Thanks.

Basically won’t be able to tap for anything including Google wallet.

Grand, thanks. I'll just have to live with it.

It's hard to believe a newer model lacks features that an older model had.

To me no Google Wallet would be a deal breaker but you could get a Galaxy Watch for about €200 and use Google Pay with that if ya really wanted that feature.

With the Leap card you can top up online and it'll add the credit the next time you tap on. Not sure if it works on TFI services outside Dublin but I assume it does. Or manually top up at a Leap agent/Iarnród Éireann station.

I though the A14 came with NFC as standard in Europe

It seems the 5G model (for sale in USA? has NFC)

    But the 4G version doesn't.

A lot of the phones these repair shops sell are Middle East, African, or Philippine phones. NFC isn’t much use in these countries

Stickers on the box of some of them saying 24 months warranty for Africa.

tempted to buy one ngl. Some offer call recording capabilities. Something Samsung has disabled on Irish models despite the fact it’s legal.

Yes, the label on the box says United Arab Emirates.

You probably won't get Samsung's 2 year warranty either if things go wrong.

How do the shops get around this or do the shop offer their own warranties

    The shop provided 1yr warranty.

This was an impulse purchase, as I need good battey to go abroad soon.

I am usually much better at research.
