Does IW have any kind of publicly available maps showing the locations of their pipe network?

Called their connection crew and they told me they couldn't tell me if they had water pipes running down the road we are planning to build on. Said we had to get drawings completed and submitted to them, and they'd be able to give us an answer in 16 weeks.

In the past it was all county council so maybe local council workers would know, or ask at local houses as they may know historic route.

If you posted here anonymously someone here might know the area and the lay of the land. Do local houses have the standard water meter round plastic cover manholes?.

County Councils don't supply this information any more - it's all IW now. However if there are houses either side of you it's safe to assume there is a mains in the road. Look for signs of valves, hydrants, etc to be sure.

Ah crap. IW suggested asking the Council. There's a school at one end of the road and we're 1km down the road (opposite direction to the town).

Two others we know living on the road have private wells but there's 30+ houses in total along the road. Might drop in on a few neighbours and ask.
