BBC SD channels removed, HD equivalent not showing on new tv.

Hi all,

My father has a dish with a freesat box, recently bbc standard def channels were taken off air. It was an old tv and box, pre hdmi, scart connection to the tv.

So he bought a new hd tv with built in sat tuner, connected the dish and let the tv scan.

It picked up the old sd bbc channels which are no longer broadcast, but it didn’t find the hd version of the channels.

He has another tv with built in sat tuner which can pick up the hd channels on the same dish.

Any idea why there’s a difference and if the hd channels can be added?

On the last page of this thread there is a recent discussion about a Samsung CU8070 TV which apparently cannot use the Symbol Rate of 23000. This is needed to tune BBC HD channels. What make is your father's new TV?

There should be some menu like Manual Tuning. You could try 10847 V which has BBC One NI HD, using these paramaters.

Make sure the TV is scanning the correct satellite (28.2 astra).

I recently set up a nordmende TV for a mate, scanned the channels and got no HD, just SD (before BBC were switched off). Turned out I'd scanned the 19.2 satellite instead, as it was first on the satellite list. I had to select the correct satellite before re-scanning.
