Just a couple of queries about these, if anyone can help or point me to where the answers are, thanks.

Do 0 point warnings get deleted after a certain period?

Can they be seen by a mod?

Are they used by mods if they threadban someone?

    Yeah it's pretty much endgame

  • 0 points are basically just notices. They do not impact your account at all, they are visible to other mods and they won’t “go away”.

Unlike a 1 or 2 point warning the points will eventually expire but the warning will remain historically it just doesn’t have an impact.

0 points are handy if I wanted to attach your post to a PM but it won’t make any impact to you. You could receive 100 0 points to no effect but enough 1 points in a short enough space you are getting a temp siteban.

But presumably a mod would use these warnings of someone reported something else? They may result in action being taken ?

Is there any point trying to appeal such warnings?

  • It would depend.

I wouldn’t use warnings applied in another forum for example as it bears no relevance.

You can dispute them with the mod or in help desk but not dispute resolution.

  • No prob.

honestly they are not any different to me just sending you a PM only it happens to (quite handily) attach the post to the PM!

But as I say they have no impact whatsoever to your account. It’s like the old system where there were yellow and red cards, but mods would as well just give you a little nudge to behave yourself if necessary without applying a card.

Exact same idea with the point system.

    0 point = a notice

    1 point = yellow card

    2 point = red card

and I’m not great at explaining it but if you get 5 points in succession (ie you have 5+ “active” points) a siteban is triggered until the points expire and bring you below 5 active. The duration depends when the first points were applied.

As Van Incalculable Liquor explains above, they're a handy way of drawing the posters attention to a specific post they've made that might not be appropriate etc in a thread. You will get a PM warning, with the post attached.

If you get 5 points your account is temporarily sitebanned. But 0 point warnings obviously don't count towards this.

However, if a moderator has given a few 0 point warnings asking a poster not to do a certain thing etc, and the poster persists then the history of receiving 0 point warnings would be taken into account and the next warning for the same thing will be a 1 point warning, at least.
