My wife's car needed work as the wiring through to the hatch had become damaged and the rear middle brake light stopped working.

At the same time a new alternator was to fitted.

Upon collection ,at 6pm in December, (paid in full) the car was discovered to have both headlight/dip bulbs blown. (Working when dropped off.)

Much, after dark searching was done until bulbs were found so it could be driven home.

Then a few days later the car smelled of burning but nothing was found.

This happened a few times until it was traced to the fan resistor having been moved (the engine had to be practically removed to replace the Alt. and subsequently covered by the floor mats and it was melting the carpet and the mats.

Further to that the rubber cover on the hatch wiring slipped off to reveal the "fixed" wiring and three more wires with cuts in, exposing the copper within.

I dont even know where to start or what to say to them?????

    Help please.

Rear wiring. None of this wiring had exposed copper. The break was invisible.

Now I am worried about it.

Was the work done by an auto-electrician?

Was he recommended to you for this type of work?

  • I would say ring them, discuss the problems and ask their solution.

    Go from there.

How old is the car? The reason I ask is that I can't figure out from the picture if the rear wiring was just folded and old plastic insulation just split, or if it was done with a knife.

Either way, whoever worked on the care hadn't a clue what they were at, and it now need to be fully diagnosed by a professional to ensure that there is no risk of fire. You will not be covered by your insurance if the car was to go on fire as a result of dodgy electrical work.
