Did someone pour inhibitor into the tank?

Yes. It possibly could have just remained stagnant there. I presume this is a jelly-like substance?

Always best to put inhibitor in through a radiator so it circulates in the system. Putting it in the expansion tank needs enough drain off to make sure it gets into the heating system.

Yes jelly like and stink was white solid when removed it looked like pic.

System was drained down and refilled then inhibitor put in small tank. Only detected it recently as wasnt there several months back.

    Thanks
