An EU army would have worse co-ordination and worse planning/bureaucracy issues than the habsburgs in WW1.

Don't get me wrong it's a great idea in theory and something I'm in favor of, but the practicality around vetos, deciding who invades/defends what and where is likely to be a middle managers dream.

EU already has the "EU Battle Groups" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EU_Battlegroup

    Not much happening with it.

Reality is that the insurance policy called "EU Army" is well overdue and is running far beyond any timeline that you would want it to be.

  • There’s a fairly signifiant possibility NATO will become much less reliable if the U.S. keeps electing Trumps, and that really isn’t some extremely unlikely scenario.

We also had Turkey blocking Finland and Sweden joining it for political reasons or perhaps because Turkish Trump was doing Moscow’s bidding.

Some potentially very strange times ahead.
