Camper usage

Heya,

Is there any legal/insurance related restrictions on using your camper as a daily run around? We may need a second car for very short trips/errands

less than 10k 3-4 times a week .Also want some day to own a campervan. Had an idea to buy a small converted campervan to combine the campervan and run around into one . Any input appreciated.

No. Not as far as I know.

may depend on your policy, but i know plenty that can and do use theirs as such...

No issue at all.

Some of the camper insurance policies are extra if you don't have another vehicle as a main vehicle but there's no issue doing as you say.

I use my camper as my daily drive . I had to join http://motorcaravanclub.com/ and become a member and was then able to join their group insurance scheme

Incredible is a word for it alright . Fella who runs it is shall we say . . . different , membership is awkward as you need to send everything in in paper form but once you get membership renewal is easy and you don need to interact much

How do you join, all I see is

"We require all applicants to give full name ,address, new Eircode, date of birth, occupation,insurance history, make, model,value and year of the motorcaravan"

Is that all you do is send an email with the above ?

Also do they offer open drive on their insurance, do you know

I seemed to recall I had to post :

• pictures of the VAN
• Filled out membership form
• SQI report

Probably a few more things that I cant remember , once they have that you then pay the fee (€50) , you are then given a membership number , call the insurance company ( Patrona) give your membership number and then you can join the scheme
