Hoping someone would help, I can not get this part for love or money.

2014 Audi A5 Quattro - steering rack.

Audi said there is none available and and if they are coming in there is names on them already.

Get it rebuilt then. It would mean awhile off the road but might be cheapest way out.

I had a nightmare waiting for a gearbox mechtronic unit for an A6 quattro, took an Audi garage 6 weeks to get one. They were blaming the Ukraine war for some difficulty in getting parts . Good luck with your search

Yep looked into that, mechanic said its a bushing in the rack is the problem and cant get that part either.

Theres places that refurbish steering racks. Theres a place just off the Longmile Road that does it.

Or try Ebay, Kilkock, Traynors etc

The steering rack will be electric not hydraulic so its much harder to find someone rebuilding them/impossible and any second hand will have component protection which makes things tricky too.

Surely if a dealer cannot supply a new part they will be willing to do the component protection bit if a used one is fitted.

Some are a lot stickier than others, it's very possible to remove it, I can actually do it (have an Audi online login) but it's definitely not that common around

Tried that place on long mile road "driveshaft services", they think they can help, ringing me back tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

I don't mind sending the rack off it's one of a few cars I have,actually hoping to sell it once this gets sorted.

Yeah thats them. I used them once, it was a quick turnaround, but in all honesty, the steering rack they did for me was worn out again after 2 years, the alternative was spending big big bucks on a new one.

So since you don’t have the option of buying new, it might be worth your while going to them.

I was going to recommend them, used them loads of times and never had a problem with them.
