Laptop Issue

Hello,

Looking for some suggestions, have an issue with a Lenovo Ideapad 5 where the physical keyboard is not working (finger print and track pad are fine) Same with plugging in a usb mouse/keyboard does not register or work. Randomly occurred one day.

In Device manager showing a fault in Keyboards and Mice and other point devices.

Where both have the error "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware, the driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) Object Name not found.

I have done all updates both windows and drivers, same with uninstalled the device and reinstalled. Unless its directly hardware unsure what else I can do? is there anyway to definitely say hardware?

Sounds like a driver issue, but it's still very odd that a USB one doesn't work.

Can you get into the BIOS menu, press F2 I think when booting and see if the keyboard works in there.

thanks for the response. any suggestions on getting into Bios when the keyboard doesn't work?

Attach a usb keyboard. All usb keyboards don't work to get into bios btw.

My gamdias gaming keyboard won't work but my Logitech usb keyboard does.

thanks for the response. unfortunately as outlined usb also doesn't work be it usb keyboard or (which previously was used) an alternative one also.

Have you tried connecting a known working USB Keyboard, Restarting the laptop, and immediately pressing the F2 (or Fn and F2 key together) as the laptop switches on?

If the keyboard/port etc is working then you should end up in the BIOS.

If that doesn't work, try connecting the USB keyboard to a different USB port and try the same.

You would at least be able verify if the issue is a windows/os/driver issue or something else.

It's very strange that both the onboard and USB keyboard aren't working as they use a different hardware interface.

If you can't get into the BIOS, it's bad.

You'll need to take the laptop apart.
