Reattach Shower mixer

The shower mixer started leaking in our bathroom so I removed it and added stop ends. For some reason, it was glued to the wall rather than screwed. I think this was because the plate that attaches the mixer to the wall is screwed on at the centre where this cavity is. So rather than filling the cavity, a half arsed job was done instead, where the plate was cut in half and just glued to the wall around the pipes.

What should I use to fill in the cavity to bring it flush out with the tiles? Is deep hole filler ok?

The new mixer I am going to buy will be the same mixer that was there before - an aqualisa. The plate has two holes in it with teeth that grip onto the pipes. The distance between the holes on the plate is 150mm. If I remove the stop ends and measure this distance between the centres of the two pipes and find that they are not exactly 150mm, what might I be able to do to rectify the issue?

ITs hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like there is just "gunk" between the existing pipes, if you hack some of that off you should get enough wiggle room to move the pipes as required.

From the looks of the one on the right, these are copper ends into a push fit 90, so just be careful when you are doing stuff that you don't pull them out!

You dont really need to fill the cavity, it will just make it even more difficult to do any repairs in future. Just silicone the top and sides and leave the bottom middle "third" free so it can "drain" if required.
