How are you sharpening your knives?

I have bought many sharpening gadgets over the years and also try to use a steel as often as I remember but my good quality cooks/chefs knife can now barely cut through butter! What do you all do to sharpen your good knives? Is there a device you can recommend and I fully appreciate that sharpening anything is a skill.

I have a sharpening tool at home and on holidays recently, I got a good result from running blade over edge of granite/stone worktop with raw corner.
