Hi

we got our son a dusk version of the ps5 for Xmas as well as 5 games.

we are trying too set this up the last 5 hours.

do we have too download the disk version of games onto the console ?

two of the games have no disks but just paper with codes,how can we download these games ?

do we need too set up PlayStation account too actually just play a disk version of a game. ?

we also bought him a tv but can’t get pass setting it up so have reverted too using our tv in the sitting room 🫤

any help ??

You need to set up playstation account.

Once account is set up, go to Settings, users and account, payment and subscription, redeem codes..enter codes and download ps5 version if available(some games may be ps4 only).

Disk games install from the disk, however there are usually patches or updates are needed with disk games, they will need to be downloaded and installed.

Disk needs to be in console to play.

Once downloaded from disk once,would I need too re download if we swap games out ?

Once game is installed from disk you just need the disk in the condole to play.

Swap disks out depending on what you want to play, games do not need to be re-downloaded each time(occasionally, game updates are required).

we got a couple of games and are trying too download but it’s say 11 hours too download it ? Surely this can’t be right ?

we managed too get 1 game downloaded out of 6 in the last 7 hours

Depends how fast your internet connection is, and bear in mind there's thousands others downloading games today too.

If you're downloading gb's of data you need to ensure you have the required bandwidth

Games often come with very large patches / updates these days so will have a substantial download attached to them, but will also need additional time to install from the disc to the hard drive. Probably still faster than a full download on most connections, but still could easily take over an hour on many home networks.

we got 1 game downloaded but now it keeps stopping and saying report problem too PlayStation.

we are at this since 7am this morning and haven’t played a single game on it which is very disappointing for our young son.

Indeed I could but having zero knowledge on these things I hoped it would be handy enough too set up but how wrong was I.

is it normal too take 10 hours of loading too play 1 game ?

Honestly it depends on the game. Some are tens or even over a hundred GB downloads. Absolutely massive, you're essentially downloading a whole disk of data again.

Now, if you've the disk version your best bet is to disconnect from the internet so it won't detect the update and just play away as normal. But you can't get online.

You also don't HAVE to download the update unless you want to get online.

Some games like call of Duty are a real pain for this. Weekly massive updates to play online.

if I disconnect from internet can I just put the disk in and play away ? Or would game need too be downloaded in advance ?

The game would need to install, but that does not use an internet connection.

One thing you may not know is that you can not share or sell digital content. And it also costs more than physical games, unless you get it discounted in a sale.

So, just be aware of this when buying games if you have a PS5 with a disk drive. Get the disk version of games.

Also, PS has a subscription service for games, which might work out cheaper for you if you are new to PS. There are a load of games on there. Also good for sampling a load of games.

You can use a VPN to get cheaper PSN from Asia too. Mine was a little over 50 euro for PSN deluxe which gives hundreds of free games.
