I am looking into getting a new laptop as my existing one is 8 years old and has become fairly slow.

On a recent visit to Harvey Norman I saw a laptop I liked and when I did a bit of digging it says recertified on the website - exact text is:

    • Significant savings over the cost of new retail product.
    • This product that has never been used and come in the original retail box.
    • Each product goes through a rigorous testing, quality control & inspection process to ensure they meet the same standards as new retail product
    • Operating system, firmware & drivers are updated to improve functionality & performance.
    • Comes with a comprehensive 2 year warranty.
    • Sustainable Solution for Circular Economy

It didn't say 'recertified' in store - only online but does anyone know why a never used laptop would need to be recertified? I'm wary of buying something that may have been changed from the manufacturers specs.

dunno what any of that means but I wouldn’t believe a word written on Harvey Norman about anything.

surely there are better places to buy a laptop.

post a request in this forum and someone with knowledge will get you the best bang for your buck.

Oh I know exactly what I need / want in a laptop so no issues there I just haven't come across 'recertification' before.

Kinda sounds like they are trying to pass off an old laptop and as a fancy upgraded one which is enough to put me off them :D
