Hi all, long time since I posted on Boards.

I'm looking for a reasonably priced lightweight 243 for stalking. New or second hand.

It needs to be as light as possible and it needs to be threaded for suppressor.

    What's out there.

    All recommendations appreciated

    Thanks.

    GP.

Sako Finnlight is the lightest gun I’ve personally used. Think the barrel length was around 19” and was fluted too.

Not to throw a spanner in the works but just be aware that once you go shorter than a 22 inch barrel with a .243, you won't be meeting the legal minimum hunting muzzle energy of 1700 ft-lb.

Above article doesn't give energy in the tables but plugging the velocities into an online muzzle energy calculator makes for grim reading.

Now on the other hand, short of someone sneaking a chronograph between you and a deer as you're firing a shot then I don't know how you could be done for it.

I shoot Mauser M18 223 which is a bit over 7lbs un scoped, the 243 is the same weight.

Rifle feeds reliably and shoots straight. Its not going to win any beauty awards but as a tool it's great.

I paid 750 for mine and 243 and 308 were much the same price.I got mine off paddy carley

    Hi lads. Got sorted

    I actually went with a Tikka T3 lite in 25 06.

I did come across a Howa 1500 super lite in Irish Shooting Sports coming in at just over 4.5lbs. He had it in 6.5 CM. Expects to have it in 243 in about 6 months if anyone is looking for a very light rifle.

    Thanks for the input.

Billy Kelly in Wexford has a nice barely used Ruger in 243 , threaded , Stalon moderator and scope included.

Manufacturer says weight is 6.2 lbs
