Is there any better system than eFlow.

Is video tolling better than the tag or vice versa.

A video account only works on the M50. No other toll roads.

There are a few options for tags from different companies. Each one has a slightly different offer but generally you pay a fee per month for the convienience of the tag, and you get a discount on the M50 toll.

Alternatively Tolltag offer an option where you don't pay a monthly fee, but you pay a 10% premium for each toll (bar the M50 which you get a discount on). This suits people who don't use tolls much, but still want a tag.

I've always had the tag and use it lightly. But I wonder if there something that includes parking for example.

Parking is becoming a really pain with all the different apps..

Easytrip do parking, but only in multi-storey car parks.

Costs €1.50 per month but you don't get any discount on the parking fees.

Can I ask why you’d move from eflow?

They pretty much are the best option in terms of tolls anyway

Just wondering after all this time if there isn't a better option. Better discount, other things included etc.

I was in iffy alley and their parking works well but had a poor experience in Stephens Gn, poor ticket machines etc. I thought there was a tag that does it all.

I've been using the eflow tag for years. I'm waiting for the proper roll out of EU wide tolling. As it stands it's spreading quite nicely over the rest of the EU. Then we land back here. An option other than eflow would be good. The ability to just take the car to France or Spain etc and having the toll tag in my car just working would be great. What would also be great would be the freedom to go to another tolling company if their prices were better than the companies operating here. Roaming for cars. Can't see it changing here too soon though.

This crowd operate what looks like a decent service, but as is usual they don't operate here in Ireland. That said, you can sign up with them and they'll send you out a tag in the post for use in France etc. There are other tolling companies.

Been using ParkMagic and found them very good.

Here is the official comparison site

If you use m50 westlink rarely then a tag with monthly fee is best. There is a discount on registration only versus a tag so even if you only use it once a year having a tag with no monthly fee gives a savings. You also have the benefit of a tag for other tolls. I believe other tolls don't offer a discount for a tag so no financial benefit there but if you have no monthly fee then you may actually pay more than cash with a tag.

Been using eFlow for years. For me it's the single monthly bill that's the appeal and none of the top-up/maintaining a credit balance nonsense that only makes the provider interest anyway.

One improvement eflow could immediately add would be the addition of more language options to their website. If English isn't of use to a prospective customer, Irish certainly won't be.

Probably. They could offer other languages though.

I left eflow, well, didn't leave them, but the fcuked up my account when they changed to a new company to run the system and suspended my account, despite it being in credit. My account didn't port over for some reason. It took weeks and weeks of emails and phone calls to eventually find out why my account was suspended. Their customer service was appallingly poor. No replies to calls, no call back when I was promised call backs, and every incident I logged was closed as resolved, despite it not being resolved.

I eventually had to call TFI to get it sorted.

Moved to Easytrip, and so far, so good.

Good article comparing providers tells me that the TollTag.ie "Pay As You Toll+" option is the best for me as a fairly low user, usually M50 2-4 times a month and occasional user of other tolls around Ireland.

    Would anyone disagree?

We currently have EasyTrip, but I feckin hate their minimum €10 balance deal, which is effectively an extra €10 charge. Their monthly fees add up too. The convenience of not having to pay for parking is a double-edge sword, and has some family members thinking that parking is free!

I'm on that also, originally got it for the EV discount but decided to keep it just for the occasional M50 toll as tags are still the cheapest on it and the 'no usage no fee' is a big plus.

At all the other tolls, I remove the tag and pay by card and that saves the 10% tag commission. Now that all the lanes have card readers installed, there's very little time saved in the 'express tag' lane unless it's really busy.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

Yeah I’m using this option too with TollTag.ie. Have 4 tags in total on the account, got tags for my own & the parents cars. If they don’t get used it doesn’t cost me anything at all, no monthly admin fee or anything like that, just the 10% charge when you use the tolls - perfect if you don’t use toll roads regularly 👍🏼

Lads - Gonna move from eFlow - painful with billing now (topping up at times actually messes up billing on it I’ve found).

    Gonna try tolltag.ie

On average I use the Limerick Tunnel 8 times a week (totalling €18.40)

Which tolltag option suits me the most? Thanks

If you’re using the tag that much one with a monthly admin fee rather than a +10% per transaction will work out cheapest. Have a look on their site or give them a bell & they’ll guide you through it.
