I am looking at a 7 seater car for shipping the kids around. Budget is around 30-35k. Has to be automatic.

I am looking at the above options, I know underneath they are all a VW but just wondering if anyone has them and any feedback?

    Seat: 2021 - 32k

    Skoda: 2019 - 32k

    VW - 2021 37k

The price difference is interesting between the models. Is it really just the badge making the difference?

Trying to compare the specs is the problem :-)

Wpuld be good if they kept the same naming structure as well. Most of the Tarraco are SE but no idea if that is top spec or not

This is from the SEAT website in 2019

Here’s an excerpt from a 2019 Irish review, note all the stuff that is and isn’t standard on the top

And as with all the VW group stuff you listed, spec can vary between cars with the same trim level because you can add options. So you might find SE models with more stuff than others.

“Our test car came in Xcellence trim, which is the highest spec in which you can get a Tarraco. On top of which, SEAT Ireland told us that it had gone "above and beyond the norm to ensure you have the opportunity to test all the latest SEAT technology," which basically means that this one has been driven through the options warehouse while covered in superglue. So, on top of the Xcellence trim's 19-inch wheels, leather trim, park assist, adaptive cruise, LED lights etc, our test car came with a top-view parking camera, dynamic chassis control, 20-inch wheels, a Beats Audi stereo with DAB, an uprated navigation system and premium metallic paint. That explains the bloated price tag of near-as-dammit €60,000, but the good news is that Tarraco prices start at a much more reasonable €34,700, and you can get a basic (but still really very well-equipped) SE model for €339 a month on a PCP deal, which adds up to rather a lot of family car for the money.”

I have the Tarraco 150bhp diesel 7 seater DSG box. Can't remember model type but it was same price as FR version. Current site says Xperience but I don't remember that name. Has everything you want. Leased.

2 and half years old with 150k on clock. Only issue has been the radio system but that's the same for every single VW. It sorts itself out usually.

I had a Skoda Superb before this and that was much quicker for the same engine and a better car. More planted in corners but that probably due to ride height. The Tarraco has 300kg more weight. But of course the Superb wasn't a 7 seater.

There really isn't 7 seats. The very back 2 have a tiny well for your legs. Only suitable for very young kids and even then not for very long. The seat itself is full size but not the leg space. Don't think isofix is back there. Mine is loaded with parts so it rarely even gets to see light.

They were the car of choice for lease a few years ago when the Superb price shot up. The Skoda Kodiaq is the exact same car. The VW tended be a lower spec as it cost a small fortune for the higher spec Vs the Tarraco. 2021 Tarraco was just under 50k new.

The 5 seater can get any tow bar fitted but the 7 seater has to get Seat version usually factory fitted due to different position of a component which I was told was the ad-blue tank.

I see link above. Xcellence model.

The 2020 model Tarraco was the older one. Lights were awful on that. Better off with candles at night.

Heated seats is what the other half wants, don't expect they come as standard?

    Also adaptive cruise control?

I have a Golf so know about the media system but I got a new device so apple car play all the time with the VW's which works 99% of the time and easier

So anything 2021 would be newer model? thanks

Xcellence model had heated seats all around including back 3. Adaptive cruise was part of a pack that was standard on Xcellence. 2021 is all updated refresh model with different bigger media screen. Xcellence model has that name on the scuff plates at the door entry. FR had exact same as Xcellence except seats were more a bucket shape.

    Ms

The Kodiak is the best looking of them three and it will hold its value better than the SEAT to now that SEAT will soon be gone. That could make SEATs a bargain in the future do.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

I've an Allspace - 221 reg. Fine car and basically the same as the Seat - I honestly don't think it worth paying extra for the badge. Seems like a lot of ex lease Tarraco's came on the market - like this one https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/seat-tarraco-2-0-tdi-diesel-7-seater-automatic/35760055?modal=gallery

As long as the weren't ex rental they seem well priced - they are SE which is base spec so no ACC or Heated Seats but still nice - digital dash and mode select which will be missing on 2021 Allspace of Tiguan's. Xcellence models from 2021 have leather and a lot of toys but will be a lot dearer.

The 7 seats are tiny - i.e seats are okay but they are almost flat to floor so suitable for small kids- having said that the seats move back forth and fold very easily and are all really high quality
