What would anyone recommend for a 10k used car. I'll be around 5 or 6 100k trips per month, mainly motorway driving, the rest will be all short trips within 10k around my local village.

Currently looking at a Dacia Sandero Stepway or a Hyundai i30 or possibly a skoda superb, these seem to be the best value for money in that price range for used cars but interested in what peoples suggestions are?

Not overally pushed if diesel or petrol, would prefer something around 1.4 or 1.5 litre engine but open to smaller. Key factors are reliability and low level maintenance. Just looking for something to keep me going for 4\5 years without too many problems.

    Thanks

You would get a decent 151-161 for modeo in the 1.6 l

I had one for 4 years , best car I ever had. Very comfortable to drive, got average fuel of around 6.2l / 100km.

big too, so could take a family with ease or lots of gear.

Don’t buy 1.6 diesel Ford Mondeo, too weak engine for a big car. Many of them have clutch issues and engine worked harder. 2.0 l diesel mondeo would be much nicer especially in good spec.

Superb is another great car for commute. Avoid 1.4 petrol I had one and it’s too slow to warm the car in winter, you’d miss the comfort of a warm car very quickly.

smaller cars better for short city runs obviously but you need to decide what’s the priority is it convenience in parking etc in the city or comfort and quiet journey on a motorway.

good luck in picking your next motor

What do you mean it's too slow to warm the car? Engine size should have no bearing on ability to heat the cabin. I think there was something wrong with your car tbh.
