Smart TRV adapter query

I recently installed the Danfoss RAS-C2 15mm trv on my radiators and wish to swap the head for a smart TRV device. The smart TRV device came with adapters but I am unsure which adapter to use.
I tried the adapter on the left and it seems correct but I cannot get a tight connection when the adapter screw is tightened. As a result the smart trv won't screw onto the adapter.
Has anyone else run into this issue before? Am I putting the adapter on incorrectly.
