So, to date, not a peep about the magazine ban, ammunition transport restrictions, ammo storage restriction etc in 2019.

Direct quote, "a robust response" would be issued to the PTB. Still waiting for it 4 years later.

Not a blip about the SACF ban this year, and no headway made about the NV classification to restricted, or the hames of the FEC and the reports thereafter, and everything else that got thrown at every shooter this year, including their members.

But ducks are where the line is drawn???

Never forget, the end goal is zero firearms of any type.

So why do you think they should pay for court cases outside "game" shooting?

For the same reason that they promote and fund activities outside "game" shooting (e.g clay pigeon shooting).

I know that we had this discussion before about all the various organisations only looking after their own corner( e.g. deer hunters only looking after deer hunting, target shooters only interested in target issues etc) but if we don't hang together on this we are fcuked.

Personally, the 4 species of duck dont affect me, so, should I be advising the NARGC not to be wasting MY money on a high court challenge?

    Hello,

For what its worth, I'm delighted to see the NARGC taking action on some issue - albeit, I think they've been fairly poor overall, for much of the last 20yrs.

Here's hoping they win this one, and gain the confidence to stand up and be counted, more often.

I find it rediculous that they don't get involved in supporting other parts of the shooting, and the hunting, fraternities, not alone seek to exert direct pressure on politicans etc.

    Thanks,

    G.

I think you might have intentionally overlooked all the game shooting aspects in my post which have been effected in the past short while, so let me list them, again, here for you-

    Ammunition transport restrictions,

    Ammo storage restriction,

Nv/thermal licencing as restricted - literally only affects hunters,

    Difficulty getting suppressor authorisations,

SACF ban - they are used for hunting in every country, including here,

The FEC reports - do I need to elaborate on this one, dreadful for all shooters but particularly hunters,

Mag and ammo capacity being knocked down on licences,

Firearms certificate application being messed around, lost, taking excessive times, etc.

I think that covers a decent shortlist of recent screwing over of shooters who hunt game.

I wholeheartedly agree with Vizzy and garrettod, and as a former member who left over the NARGC's attitude on this type of topic, I would absolutely rejoin and get heavily involved again if the NARGC fought more for shooters like they are doing here, albeit only for a small subset of shooters in this case.

You're not a current member. So you want them to spend other peoples' money on what you feel is important?

I can see why NARGC wouldn't touch the above points raised by OTB. After losing big time in badly advised high/supreme court challenges in the Oughties with the "cross-pollination" of NARGC members who had handguns, and with the ensuing upheaval and acrimonious dismissal of a certain person. No wonder they won't go near this. Nor do I blame them for not commenting on the mag capacity ban in the same timeframe. As it was a "nunya" for them to do.OTOH a "robust response" to the ammo restrictions ,now Five years awaiting, could and should have been done.

HOWEVER, that does leave the big question...Who is responsible or representing us then for speaking up on those other issues that OTB raised in the established groups...???

I want them to represent the interests of all their members at the very least, that is their remit as a representative org. Surely you don't disagree with that?

Or should they only represent the interests of members when you agree with them, ie ducks, while doing nothing about all of the legislative things that are affecting their members?

Good sidestepping of all my previous points though and instead solely going on about me being a former member.

    Useful that.

Agree, some of those points are not overly relevant to game shooting, but considering their utter silence on things which solely affect game shooting and their members doing same, it boggles the mind that their line in the sand to spend their members money on is not something that affects all of their members(ammo storage & transport, licence delays and lost applications, etc) but instead 4 duck species which would only affect a subset of their members(duck shooters).

It feels like something else is at play, maybe some of the higher ups in the NARGC are avid duck shooters, hence the disproportionate response to ducks vs nought for anything else.

    O..b...2

Not side stepping, more ignoring ,as some I agree with and some I don't agree with and there's no point discussing the ones we disagree on any further as neither of us will change our minds.

As for NARGC, sometimes you gotta pick your battles.

Maybe they see the 4 species of duck as the thin end of the wedge though.

If there was no genuine scientific or ecological reason why they should be took off the list then what is to stop him taking more off next year?

    I plink therefore I am

An election?Where hopefully the GP will be turfed out on the compost pile where they belong. Anytime they are in Govt they have to pull stunts like this to keep their more militant Animal rights supporters happy. Last time it was the Stag hunting ban. This time they are being somewhat more ambitious.
