Hey. Was involved in a minor RTC over the weekend. Got the driver's details, went to call his insurance company today to make a claim - can't find how to. The insurance company is Wakam - apparently they're French. Absolutely nothing on their website on how to make a claim, it's all about buying insurance - or designing insurance products for resale. The only contact details are a French telephone number, or email.

Anyone ever dealt with them? Does anyone have an Irish number for them?

Edit - They are on the list of insurers in Ireland so legit from that aspect

I called my insurance company about it, they said I could go through them but it would then effect my no claims bonus. My insurance company is the one that emphasises how much they're there for you when something goes wrong, so yeah, that's so much marketing bullshit! 🤣

Got in touch with the other driver, they gave me a phone number for their broker, who put me in touch with the Irish underwriter, a crowd called wrightway.ie in Wexford, which is better than France, at least. They really don't like answering their phone but email eventually worked.

Your insurers only obligation to you, is to honour the contract you have with them. i.e. to pay any valid claim you might make under your policy. They are not a service provider for when you want to seek compensation from other people

Yup, all true. Ironically, I'd pay a small premium (no pun intended) for them to actually provide that service; I've already spent about three or four hours on this, not counting the time to get a quote for repair from a garage.

There are firms out there that do this on your behalf. They don't charge a fee and bill the 3rd party for their services. They only take you on if there is a reasonable chance of success
