Any recommendations for more recent movies for getting into spirit? Some recent(ish) that I have enjoyed:

    Click and collect.

Krampus (bit scary but good fun)

Office Christmas party. I thought this was not great initially but has grown on me. Gets you into the season.

    Any other recent ones?

Klaus for me is a great modern Christmas movie.

I must check it out. 'm guilty of going back to the classics but have seen some of them too many times.

I liked 'The boy who saved Christmas' too.

Klaus is great, and thought the first Christmas chronicles was decent too.

I watched the Holdovers. Set at christmas in a boarding school. Definitely one to catch if you enjoyed Sideways.

I tend to enjoy British movies and like Your Christmas or Mine last year. They have a part 2 out this year too, on Amazon Prime. Harmless Christmas movies but a step above Hallmark schmaltz.

I saw 'your place or mine' last year. It wasn't bad. There was another one on prime I think called last train to christmas with Michael Sheen. Good if you like UK ones.

Just watched Candy Cane Lane on prime, Eddie Murphy stars. Decent one to watch with the kids.

The Night Before with Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie and Joseph Gordon-Levitt has entered my Christmas rotation in recent years.

Hallmark channel… woman looses fiancé, goes home to___ ( put any place on earth) sees old flame, falls in love has a problem is about to leave him and it all works out.

Don't forget that just as they are about to kiss they are interrupted by a ringing phone/oven beeping/person walking into the room.

And from the couple first meeting, they are in love and one is sacrificing their big job in the city all in 2 weeks. I wish they would do a follow up about 5 years later when they are married with small kids and hate the sight of eachother.

I saw it and it's good. Had actually forgot about it

The names of them tell you exactly the effort that went into the scripts. A cowboy Christmas, a Christmas connection etc. Always involving someone finding love when they least expected it, but at christmas....
