GAA Master Fixtures Lists 2024

In the football, as in 2023, the Championship will begin a week after the League Finals. After Mayo reached the Division One Final in 2023, there was some demand that the fixtures should be rewritten because they had to play Roscommon a week later in Connacht. So this is the time for counties to decide whether they want to finish in the top two in their Divisions, if they are listed for Provincial action a week after the League Finals.

Division Two will have a big say in who gets into Sam. Meath are already qualified. There are four Ulster teams plus Louth, Meath, Kildare and Cork. Cork have three home games against Cavan, Kildare and Armagh. And they have four long trips to Donegal, Louth, Fermanagh and Meath. There is much jeopardy for the bad performers, with the likes of Clare and Down from Division Three having a shout at getting to a Provincial Final.

They could easily run off the club hurling season in the one calendar year

Suppose it could get confusing as down in history books be 2 different AI Champions the one year (example 2023/24 winners and then 2024 winners (July-Dec time window )

Ballygunner unique stat in winning and losing All Ireland title in the one year. Won in Feb 22 and lost in the AI Semi final Dec 22

Dual clubs are the conundrum. They must be prepared to play hurling and football on the same weekend at times. Dual players are to be admired but they should not be hindering the master calendar.
