Do you need a quote for a new kitchen for the bank if the house you are buying has no kitchen fitted? We saw a house but it has no kitchen fitted. We've had an inspection done and there doesn't appear to be any issues that would cause them to take the kitchen out only that it was very outdated . We would be using our own savings or my in laws said they would pay for it to get this fitted either. Does the bank need quotes for a new kitchen to be fitted before they give us letter of offer?

I'm in a situation with a kitchen at the moment as well. I signed contracts for a new build recently. There is no fitted kitchen but the house comes with an allowance towards one. I was in with the kitchen suppliers recently and they said you can't sell a house without a kitchen. I have no idea if that's true or not, just relating what they told me. The bank won't release the funds until the independent house valuation is done but they won't do the valuation until the house has a kitchen. We got our letter of offer before the kitchen issue came up.

If a house has no (working) kitchen it is not habitable.

If a house is not habitable it is difficult to get a mortgage.

You can include extra money for renovating, or get another loan after purchase. Be careful how you word it...

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

Go on to IKEA website, design a kitchen and download the full quote. You can model on the shape of the kitchen you want

If there is any kind of a kitchen in the house, you shouldn't have an issue with the lender. The bank's surveyor isn't going to deny you the loan because the house has an old-fashioned kitchen. Plenty of people buy habitable houses that are screaming for upgrades of all sorts - bathroom, kitchen etc.
