    Hi All

Just wondering if anyone could shed any light on this or suggest what could be the likely issue

    The car is a 2009 Volvo 2.0D

When you turn the key all the lights are coming on the dash and all looks ok . However,  there is no clicking sound and the engine isn’t cranking .

The battery is new enough so I don’t think that’s the issue . There is an immobiliser message coming up as an error.

Would this be a main dealer job . I haven’t come across this issue before and not sure if a local mechanic could help.

    Thanks

    Barr

Do a battery test. This cold spell can kill batteries overnight.

If you haven't got a battery tester, try and jump start it. The battery

might even have an inspection hole for showing you the batteries

health. Green showing in the inspection hole = good. Red showing

    means the battery is dead.

Sounds like a job for an auto electrician

The CEM module is a common failure, its the body control module and also handles the immobiliser functions

That's what I suspected . Battery turned out to be fine . I'll see what they come up with.

Same issue happened to my sisters 2010 fiesta. Researched a bit and found a fix for it which was leaving the key in ignition for a while like 10 or 15 mins. There was a few other bits too maybe worth looking into.
