Attic conversion rad not heating - Heat pump system

Attic rad isn't heating, rest of the house heating fine. I went to bleed and no air at all, just clear water flowing out at a decent rate.

Anyone have any idea what might be causing this. New build heat pump system with thermostat control for every floor bar the attic floor.

You probably need to balance the radiators on bedroom floor so that the hot water is pushed up to attic. Water flowing will take easiest path & attic radiator is further away with added height/gravity to overcome.

Start by closing all lock shields on bedroom & towel radiators to see if the attic radiator heats up (lock shield fully open). Then open the closed off radiators half turn & see if they all heat up enough. If one of the radiators isn't heating enough open it's lock shield another quarter, half turn until you are happy with heat across them all.

Thank you for this. I reckon this could be the problem as I have all the rads on the floor below up to full on the twist dial. So I should work them down to reduce the flow there and allow it up to the others?

What do the numbers on the rads mean if you know? I have dials from 1-5 and a frost symbol? I assumed 5 was the way to go but obviosuly not.

That's the temperature control or heat output. The numbers roughly correspond to desired room temperature.

2-3 is around 18 for bedrooms

3-4 for kitchen & living room.

The knob on other side of the radiator is the lock shield and can need pliers to turn it.

Heat pump system isn't like a regular system. It's been delicately set up. Unlike a regular system you can upset the entire ecosystem by adjusting the lockshield value. Adjusting the flow rate can dramatically increase the cost of running the heating system.

In your case I strongly suggest getting in a heat pump company to make the adjustments required. You could get the system serviced at the same time
