Shipping Bike to Sportives from Ireland

    Hi All

A few years ago someone here was shipping bikes to various Sportives around Europe. Can't seem to find them online, if they are still doing them at all.

I'm looking at doing Roubaix and Flanders next year.

Hoping to pick it up before Flanders (March 30th) and drop it off after Roubaix (April 6th).

Anyone know if someone in Ireland still does this, or will I have to take it by plane?

Alternative would be to rent a case, take it on the plane and leave the case with Stasher or similar in Brussels for the week. Or two used cardboard bike boxes but that's a bit of a faff, especially coming back.

Any alternative suggestions to the above are welcome.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I looked into shipping a bike to Italy last year when I was there for work for 3 weeks. It turned out to be easier and cheaper to bring it with me on the Ryanair flight.

Saw that alright. But it means another 2 days annual leave and if you want a cabin it's seriously expensive.

I think the company that was shipping bikes to events was tri focused and was looking to move to more cycling focused events, I think it was called shipmytribike but I'm not sure if it survived Covid.

I don't know if any of the bike tour companies offer any service around those type of events, flying your own bike wouldn't be too bad if you were being collected in a van and storage of the bike box was sorted for you.

I had found this site earlier in the year - https://www.sendmybag.com/en-gb/bike-shipping. didn't use them though

They look interesting alright. Might try them another time.

In the meantime I've rented a bike box, will fly it in and store it with Stasher near the Brussels Midi train station in a place that I used already.

I'll be heading to Germany on the train for the week between Sportives and won't need the bike box.

Thanks for all the tips anyway.
