    Hey all,

    I hope this forum can help me figure out the name and use of the attached connection.

    I'm unsure if it's to turn off the water or to turn on the spout that's attached to it.

    That's a draincock. Used to drain legs of water systems, square block is tap which is loosened by a spanner. Attach hose to spigot before opening.
