Changing from Coax to Fiber

    Hi all,

So I have a broadband connection quandary that I'm going around in circles on.

I currently have Virgin Media Broadband provided over coax cable, when my house was built the builder installed a "shotgun cable" one side of which is coax cable and the other is an empty cable jacket. This cable leads from the external cable box fed from the road to the comms cabinet and cat6 wired throughout the house. The logic from the builder behind the hollow cable jacket is that when the times come for fiber they can "blow" the fiber down this hollow jacket back to the comms cabinet.

So today, my contract has expired with Virgin so we're re-singing up (SIRO not currently available) , they want to upgrade the current coax connection to upgraded fiber. Which in theory is great! However, the external cable box is on the opposite side of the house to all of the lan cable terminals.

I have wired POE access points throughout the house and exclusively use the ISP provided router in modem mode. The external wall where the fiber will come from the road does not have a lan port on it, so I won't be able to even do a daisy chain back to the cabinet over cat6 from the ONT.

    What are my options here?

    • "Blow" fiber in the existing hollow cable jacket? [Is this even a thing for domestic houses?]
    • Run fiber in the soffit around the house to the external wall where the cabinet is?
    • Connect the fiber on the internal wall and use MoCA Adapters to connect back out to the existing coax and into the comms cabinet?
    • ?

The worst part is we didn't know Virgin were going to upgrade the connection until late last week, they are coming out Monday so I'm on the clock now too!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just wanted to add a visual of the hollow cable jacket.

The top right had corner of the box you can see the two cables coming out together, the black connection on the righthand side is the coax connector for virgin
