Alternative to Munich for Oktoberfest

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this question. A friend of mine would like to go to Oktoberfest for her hens. The price of accommodation in Munich is looking extortionate for the weekends of Oktoberfest next September. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good alternative to Munich for a proper Oktoberfest style celebration? Or if anyone knew of any accommodation for a large group in Munich that doesn’t cost a fortune that would be great.

stuttgart looks like a good alternative but unfortunately no direct flights from Dublin.

If you can go in April/May there is springfest https://www.muenchen.de/en/events/spring-festival-2024-munich-program-info

It's basically a mini version of Octoberfest. I've been a couple of times and its good craic.

Erlangen festival in May is worth considering. Lovely location, great oompah bands, friendly people and close to Nuremberg (Ryanair)

I lived in Erlangen during my time at university there.

    Guess you mean the Bergkirchweih

here a link to a website about it in German maybe Google is your friend in translation

Erlangen is not a tourist but a student town. Its 20km north of Nürnberg Airport Good public transport.

By the way there is the first Irish Pub in Germany located

but its not the only one in town

With oktoberfest just upon us, I came across this thread

Regarding stuttgart, theres regular (one an hour if not more) direct trains from Frankfurt to Stuttgart taking an hour and a bit. If you fly Lufthansa you can get a flexible train ticket (rail and fly) add on for your flight and hop on the first ICE

If you want a proper Bavarian fest, in the Autumn then the 2 biggest are in Straubing and Rosenheim with a shade over 1 million visitors to each and heres 2 videos of what you can expect. Both events feature some rides which also are at the Munich fest (or at least identical ones if they arent the exact same equipment). Both have drinkable beer.
