Large area of Cork City centre cordoned off .. ( EDIT: Now reported as a Hoax )

Parts of Cork City have been sealed off on Friday morning as part of a major security alert.

The courthouse on Washington Street and the Mercy hospital have been evacuated and several streets in the area have been sealed off. 

Significant traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí and several units of the fire service are on the scene.

Just listening to Red FM - there was a few areas that had security scares but guards are satisfied that they are all a hoax. Gardai have arrested a man at the courthouse after he attacked them.
