Stupid Question

I'm sure I should know better but I'll ask anyway.

I'm getting a rifle for hunting. I've 2 permissions obtained in writing.

Do I fill in one of their details in Section 5.2? What's throwing me is the bit in brackets about filling it in if a Limited Cert is applied for. I'm not applying for a limited cert.

And if I've to fill it in, the landowner is of pension age and she's known for not telling anyone her age.

I'm guessing I have to fill it in as best I can and if she won't give her date of birth, I just leave it blank.

Not a stupid question at all.

Section 5.2 refers to a "Limited Licence" and also the "use of the above SHOTGUN for the killing of animals and birds", so it shouldn't be relevant as you are not applying for a limited licence, nor are you applying for a shotgun.

However, there is no facility on the form to input "land permission details" other than if you are a member of a gun club.

Just checked the last FCA1 that I filled in 2020 and the form was more or less the same, so I simply ticked the "Hunting" box and included details of 3 landowners. Worked for me.

    Best of luck.

I usually just include a separate sheet with the required permission's details.

Never forget, the end goal is zero firearms of any type.

S.I. No. 187/1972 - Firearms (Temporary Custody) Order - Firearms seized

S.I. No. 21/2008 - Firearms (Restricted Firearms and Ammunition) Order 2008 - Firearm types restricted

Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2009 - Firearms banned & grandfathered

S.I. No. 420/2019 - Magazine ban, ammo storage & transport restricted

Criminal Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2023 - 2023 Firearm Ban (retroactive to 8 years prior)

Same as above, previously included permissions, but didn't complete 5.2.

    Thanks,

    G.

The origin of this harks back to a time when a shooter would just have a licenced shotgun at a reduced licence fee and he was limited to just a single farm.

    “Limited”
