Changing rim size/wheels

    Hi All

Is it possible to change my rims/wheel size? I drive a leon st with 215/55/r17 and was thinking

of changing to 205/55/16 for example but am unsure if the new wheels will fit. I've read around this

a bit but am unsure re offset of my wheels etc.

Anyone recommend a website where I can get a definitive answer before I order as i don't want

    to get the wrong wheels

    Thanks

    J

They will fit as long as the fitment is the same. So 5x112 fitment and the same centre bore size. Most VW or Audi wheels will fit except for those made for Polo’s and A1’s. They are 5x110.

    Not Your Ornery Onager

A fair change of circumference there, I think speedometer and odometer would be affected.

What year/model is the Leon, and what is your motivation in changing wheel size?

The sticker inside the fuel flap will give the common tyre sizes for your model.

A 205/55R16 will have a much thinner sidewall than your 215/55R17 tyres.

to keep the same outside radius on a 16” tyre, you’re looking at something like a 225/55R16, which is marginally smaller

Would help to know what you want to achieve.

    Hi All,

    2016 Leon ST

Thanks for replies - only reason for considering is damage to an alloy and if im changing I figured I may go for

a tyre that is cheaper and a bit quieter (afaik). That said it may be simpler just to stick to the same size.
