Hornbeam hedge, how close to a wall?

I am putting down some Hornbeam along both side walls in back garden, walls are 6 to 7 foot high so don't need thick hedge, mainly for the green leaves. How far out from wall should I plant my single row? 30cm? Closer? Further? Not many specific suggestions online

Depends how deep the foundation is, if you hit it when planting you'll have to move further out, otherwise you can plant as close as you want.
