Edge a chainsaw

Does anyone know anyone in the south side of Dublin that would edge a chainsaw? Tried a few places but seems to be a rarity of a service

Did you try tool hires? Sometimes they will fix tools for a fee. A lot of them hire chainsaws so they obviously have to sharpen them regularly.

Piece of kit to do your own chains. About the same price as getting a couple of chains sharpened.

I find this handy if you already have a dremel.

Easy to do yourself. Just need the correct file for it. You can also get jigs that are pretty inexpensive for doing it.

Any plant hire will sharpen a chain but get one of these. Do not buy an electric chain sharpener they are useless and will destroy your chain if not set up properly.

Find the correct angle for your chain to be sharpened at. They are marked on this guide then so it's only a matter of holding it in line with it. The chain does not even have to come off the saw. So handy. Plenty of YouTube vids on them.

I resigned myself to having to sharpen it myself. That’s exactly what I wanted but it’s only in stock in Swords at the minute and I haven’t time to get up there. Plan is to knock a tree first thing Saturday morning.

Will see can I find similar in another shop somewhere near home.

Any place that sells lawnmowers/hedge trimmers/chainsaws will have one of those.

A round file will only sharpen the cutters. You also need to file the depth gauges.
