Repeated Shower Pump Failure

    Hi All

Our original Aqualisa shower pump failed after 6 years which is fine however it was then replaced with

another pump which failed after 5 months operation. It was replaced under warranty however it's

after failing again after 4 months. The plumbing is the same afaik so what could be causing this?

It's still under warranty but I would like to fix the root cause (it may of course just be the pump however

its a good brand/model by all accounts)

    Any ideas?

It is a good shower, albeit a lot more expensive than equivalents with similar specification.

What is the presentation when it fails?

From a plumbing perspective, there could potentially be an issue with cavitation whereby the shower is sucking water faster than the tanks can deliver it without air ingress - but this would give rise to poor running in normal operation even with the new pump.

It’s not on a pumped supply by any chance? Is there a booster pump in the house system at all?

It's because they are a crap pump!

In my case the original pump lasted 4 years.

Replacement pump #1 lasted about 1 year.

Replacement #2 lasted about 6 mths - the pump body actually cracked.

Replacement #3 went after less than 1 year.

Their offer then was a bargain replacement shower for about €1k. No thanks.

It's still in use with the failed replacement pump #3 fitted. No pump obviously but i get an acceptable shower.

Thanks all - yes it seems they are crap - I just saw similar pump reviewed

on Screwfix by a number of users and it seems around 30% are duds!

At least the after sales service is good

Supply is from gravity fed tank - water supply is well with 1bar pressure.

    1 bar from a well?

Seems odd. Depending on your setup, your attic tank might not be filling properly at times.

Well it's filling grand - maybe it's more than 1 bar - I'll check that thanks
