Adding underfloor hearign to existing evohome system

    Hi All,

I have existing evohome system with all rads running as separate zone with gas boiler. This was done by Electric IReland and works quite well. Next year I'm planning to extend the house and install underfloor heating in part of the ground floor plan - its about 40sqm so probably broken to 2 zones. I think i would need to get one of those controllers:

    Honeywell Evohome HCE80

    plus some thermostat - T87RF2083

And than i can control those zones via app or the evohome hub - is that correct? The HCE80 can be quite expensive - any advise where to get it from?

In all likelihood your new extension will have close to an A rating, so I wouldn't be bothering with smart control for it. A regular room stat with different times and temperatures will do fine. I say this because it will both heat up and cool down so slowly as to negate the need for such remote control.

I have lots of customers with heat pumps and smart thermostats that they only adjust a couple of times a year.

Hi - much appriciate a response. I don't have heat pump - planning to keep in gas for now and in few years switch to heat pump if that would prove beneficial. The boiler is only 5 years old and works great.

Regarding the thermostat I'm currently using the automated, time scheduled TRVs on the radiators daily. Its working great. I know that they sell them with " learning" capacity so adding underfloor heating zones would potentially inform some other zones (bedrooms above, or sitting room next to it which would still have radiator). I also like to preheat the house after being away for few days and walking back into warm one - controlling from the phone is great for that.

Unless I'm overthinking it and its not how it works?

    Bart
