Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Heatshield

The heatshield on my Saab 93 has partially detached from the underside of the car. It's making a fairly horrible rattling noise at idle and when moving off. The NCT is booked for the 23rd November and I was wondering if this alone is enough to fail the test?

I was already expecting a fail for other reasons but was planning on taking the failsheet to my mechanic or just scrapping the car based on how bad it was.

Yeah it will fail on that as it could come off the car when you are driving.

If you can reach it yourself, take it off off completely. The tester might

not notice it gone, but replace it as it is there to deflect heat.

Run it through the test and see what it fails on, if it fails. There is plenty

of Saab fans here so you shouldn't have much trouble moving it on if you

    want to.

It needs a good bit of work already like a bonnet and bumper respray, clutch and flywheel, and an undetermined problem with steering and brakes so I was just planning on finding out if it was worth getting it all sorted. It is the estate version which are quite rare in Ireland which does make it worth saving to some extent but if it was too far gone scrap man was unfortunately the plan. Thank you anyway for the advice we will see how it goes!
