Considering moving to Eir, how are they these days?

So I'm coming up to the end of my broadband contract so I'm about to do my yearly song and dance of ringing around the providers for a better deal.

I'm currently on the OpenEir network getting 500 mb from Sky. My monthly bill is going to increase from €30 to €44 per month once I'm out of contract.

So I've been looking around and the best deals are Eir, Pure, Virgin all at €35. I was with Pure before Sky and I wont be going back due to reasons that I would take to long to explain in this thread. I wont go back to Virgin as I was with them before Pure and specifically moved away from them to gen on the OpenEir netowtk.

By process of elimination that leaves Eir. I know they used to have a very bad reputation for customer service but I believe that has improved a lot recently.

How do people find them these days?

    Thanks in advance.

I thought SKy jumped to €60 once your contract finishes. At least mine is.

Did you call Sky to see if you you could get a better price. I know I will be.

In relation to Eir, my parents have FTTC and its ok. We did have a outage over Christmas last year which unfortunateley took a while to get fixed due to everyone being on holidays so it was bad timing.

Other than some billing issues at the start of the renewed contract (discounts not applied correctly for a couple of months) there haven't been any other issues.

I usually do the negotiations for my parents and have stayed with Eir for the past few years as they seem to be the cheapest that also offers the call package my parents need too.

I've 2 lines in my house, one work one and one for normal use both FTTH. One is with Eir(OpenEir) and the other is Digiweb (Siro). I have no issue with the product or problems with reliability/speed and Eir customer care has improved in recent years too. One thing I don't like though is the CPI +3% increase each April. I don't think Sky do this currently but other Boards members here have said that Sky have had success with Sky giving them the same price again for the second year when they ring up? Worth trying?

Oh yeah I will try and negotiate with them just wondering how Eir are these days. I've seen about the CPI increase that appears to becoming more common I saw Vodafone have the same.

Hopefully won't jinx myself in saying it but Eir have been good so far and their customer care has definitely improved. Would still try Sky and see have they an offer to save having to move.

So best Sky can do is bring my broadband down from €55 to €40. Eir is offering €35 and €100 credit (offer only up to Dec 1st). Looks like Eir it is.

    Thanks for you inputs

I have never had any problems with Eir. You can also add in 5G mobile SIM-only accounts for €9.99pm, and Eir TV for €9.99 per month, in bundle. These are very competitive prices, and the Apple TV box is the best of the streaming boxes, offering unrestricted recording of BBC, for example. Eir don't advertise it, but you can also do multi-room without any additional monthly charge, if you buy your own additional Apple TV boxes (the first one is free with the Eir TV subscription). Eir sell refurbished Apple TV boxes on their Eir Store website for €59.99, which is also very competitive. Like most providers, price will go up when contract ends, if you don't re-negotiate - but I have always found them helpful in renewing the discounts each year if you are prepared to commit to another year.

Recently signed up with Eir. To be fair customer service has been good , Eir sent cirnet to install fibre in my new build - although it took 2 months. Signed up with their tv and two sims ported over as well. That being said our local Eir store is helpful. But worth giving it a go
