Winter prep for low use car?

    Hi all,

Looking for advice on how to prepare the car for the winter when it's gonna be sitting in the drive - with my current situation I won't be driving it much until maybe April.

Apart from taking it out for a spin every now and again what else can I do to protect the paintwork/body/alloys, etc? Should I cover it, get it ceramic coated, do some rust protection (I live near the coast so rust is a concern for me)?

    Cheers,

    P.S. Car is a GT86 - 10yrs old

The car will be fine for 6 months. You can either take it for a quick spin every couple of weeks and let the battery recharge and allow all the moving parts to free up, or you could just remove the battery and let the car sit for 6 months. Make sure to keep the tyres inflated too.

It'd need more than a quick spin every few weeks. I'd try to get at least an hours driving every month or else leave it sit. If you have a pump over inflate the tyres when you aren't driving, put a note on the steering wheel, and then let them down to drive.

If leaving it sit try and get 4 axle stands to protect your tyres or else over inflate them and again put a note on the steering wheel. If you need the alarm get a trickle charger otherwise remove the battery and keep it in your home, I killed a new bike battery by leaving it in the bike in a shed over winter.
