    Hi

Just a quick query I have an Ideal vogue max system 32IE boiler it is about two years old , we have it zoned for downstairs upstairs and hotwater an often only use one zone at a time we deliberately we for a slightly higher capacity boiler so if we did need to we could tun three zones at once if required . Even when only on a single zone when I check the efficiency reading on the LCD readout it normally reads mid 20's . To a lay person this seems low , is this correct or about right or way off . It is regularly serviced but is due an annual service about now . anyone any advice or opinion thanks

Nobody, not even Ideal seem to have the faintest idea to what this means. If your boiler was running at only say 25% efficiency then there would be far far more heat coming out of the "chimney" than going to water heating and the flue gas temperature would be somewhere around 1100C instead of something like 80C or lower.

That efficiency may be relative to the amount of condensing the boiler is (if any) achieving.
