Quest 2 Xmas Prep

    Hi folks,

One of the kids is getting a Quest 2 for Christmas. We've never had a VR headset, so trying to figure out what the best approach is to giving it to her on Xmas day. E.g.

    1. Should we have prebought and preinstalled some games in advance?
    2. Is there anything available on it initially? Or if we just have her open it on Xmas morning, does it take a while to set up?

I just want to make sure it's not an anticlimax on Christmas morning for her when she opens it. She's 11 if that matters.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sean

Activate it on the day, you will need to have a Meta account so I guess you could have that pre-made in advance, though it's probably best just to create one of those on the day too and set it to her email.

It comes with some VR demos and part of the setup process involves dancing with a robot which is great fun.

There are demos too like Beat Saber, which she can download in a matter of minutes.

Excellent - that all sounds good. Sounds like we're better off just letting her open it and explore it herself. Thanks for that!

Hi also have a quest 2 for Christmas morning.

Was trying to setup an account, but need to setup a parents account first and then child's acount for under 12?

So what account do you use for setting up quest itself, for referrals also, and can you have both adults games in adults account and general games on child's account?

Are you aware of the 30 euro free referral credit thread on boards?

You can get a referral link and open it to create her meta account. As shes 11 and you dont want her receiving any meta emails before Christmas probably best to use the referral link on Christmas Eve after she goes to bed or on Christmas morning. Just use the referral link before turning on the headset and use same meta login details when setting up the headset and she'll get 30 euro store credit for games. Take a look here:

We bought ours in Smyths last week, cashier told us to turn it on (along with an Xbox for other son) beforehand just to make sure there's no issues on the day.

Good idea so that there's no tears!
