    Hi,

I've an old front door that is being replaced during our renovation.

In order to not wait for 2 months for install they are doing it in 3 weeks provided I remove the old one.

Am I right in saying I need to remove it front the inside and knock out the straps holding it in place?

The rep told me I'd need to do it thay way but it's deeper than I thought on the handle side.

I've a plasterer coming back in a few weeks to do other works so not too fussed about damage etc

Some of these doors come out easily and some don't. I can't tell whether that's a PCV or alu frame on that?

Some installers run a sawsall (reciprocating saw) or a multi-cutter up and down the inner side of the frame to cut those steel ties. Other option is to do as you are and use a magnet to locate them and then bish-bash-bosh them out as you are.

It looks like given the depth of the frame within the wall that you might need to cut the door frame anyway but check first whether the door is smaller than the external opening and just siliconed into place. If so, free-up all of the steel ties, cut the silicon around the external frame and push it outwards.

Oh, and cut back the remaining silicon off the external reveal as well as you can; installers hate it when it's left on.
