Are all online purchases bound by distance selling regulations?

I recently made a purchase online where the item is then reserved for collection instore - where I collected it. I brought it home and have decided that I don't want it - largely due to the fact that the item is faulty. On return of the item to the vendor, I've been told I need to wait two weeks for a warranty investigation claim to see if the item is indeed faulty.

Whether it's faulty or not, as I made the purchase of the item online, am I not entitled to return this item without any reason within my distance selling regulation 14 day period?
