VW Entertainment screen problems

    Hi.

Question regarding a 171 VW Jetta 2.00 tdi . The entertainment/sat nav screen has gone haywire and is skipping randomly between radio stations and the sat nav as if it’s possessed by an invisible hand.

Has anyone experienced of this problem with VW and if so how did you manage to resolve it. I have tried the “ hard reset “ on several occasions without success.

    Thanks in advance.

This happened to me in a 2015 Golf, only happened on cold mornings, it was as if there was moisture on the screen causing it to glitch.

I never fixed it, but you can just replace it with a near identical screen with Apple CarPlay etc for around €250 to €300.

First try cleaning the screen real good, especially the edges which you use a cotton bud on. If that doesn't cure it try slowly warming it with a hair dryer or hot air gun far enough away from the screen not to cause damage (this may take a long time up to an hour as you need to dry out the electronics behind the screen). If it's still glitching it needs replacing unless someone here or on Google has ideas.

You could always take it out and sit it in a hot press for a few days rather than the heating if the cleaning hasn't worked.

Had this happen on Octavia, particularly in cold weather. A warm palm on the screen for a while seemed to fix it temporarily, I changed it out for a newer version in the end because it was calling people from my phone on its own 😱
