Hi,

I have had a Samsung Galaxy Fold 3 for a few years now, work phone. I am leaving the job in a few weeks and need to get a phone. Its been a long time since I bought a phone so I am not familiar with what is regarded a decent phone. The Z Fold was more than I needed. I just want a decent smart phone with decent memory/storage. With Black Friday around the corner now is a good time to buy I think. What would be a good phone to get, around €400/€500? Phone only, no contract. Quality of camera is not really important. I've had Samsung for past 7/8 years. Any very good deals going on right now? I attach my current phone storage to give an indication of what I need. I intend to move the photos to cloud.

Thanks for this, it's a great option to look into. I'm not tied to Samsung. I just want a decent phone that will comfortably take the stuff that is on the current phone. I am working on taking stuff off and transferring to the cloud so I can get a more affordable phone.

Which are the decent android makes now? As I said, it's been a number of years since I bought a phone and there are a lot of brands I've never heard of. What should I avoid.

I do like the look of the Samsung S21 FE, but there similar spec at lesser price with some of the "lesser", newer brands?

I just bought an Honor tablet on amazon. Would that brand be a more bang for your buck in terms of a phone?

You would get more bang for your buck with the other brands. Honor do have some good phones. Oppo would also be one to look at.

Something like this would be a solid all rounder with a few extras that the Samsung doesn’t have.

Samsung seems to have a solid name in phones, so you certainly wouldn’t go wrong with a replacement from the brand.

So I didn't buy during black friday sales. As I said previously I currently have Samsung Galaxy Fold 3. I'll need a hand transferring over data so I am going to buy from an Irish retailer. I don't wish to enter a contract. Company phone currently on eir network, which is good in my area. Gomo would do me as a carrier but I need to keep number. Whom is currently doing the best deals? I have a severe brain injury I would not be able to go from retailer to retailer comparing.

You can keep your number with gomo, or any of the networks actually so that isn't a problem, out of the big retailers (vodafone,3,eir) eir is the cheapest
