Waterproof shoes

Hi

This is not really an outdoor pursuits scenario as such. I walk a lot in the rain. I am sick of going out for 30-60 minutes walks on standard concrete pavements or walking through short wet grass and coming home with my socks soaked.

Even a 5 minute walk in rain will have my socks wet.

I have tried ASICS gore tex rumours, worked for about 6 months and then socks started getting saturated.

am thinking of something like this next

they kinda look like a standard enough pair of footwear and could pass without raising eyebrows

would these work on concrete or would spikes just wear down quick enough? (Losing all grip etc)

Waterproof socks are an options, sealskins are about 40e

You don't need to reinvent the wheel on this one, golf shoes on concrete would be a nightmare I'd imagine.

Just widen your net.

However, my asics gore-tex were no good after less than 6 months, so a bit uncertain

prior to getting gore tex, seemed to be a no brainer, waterproof and breathable, not not so sure now

I'm a big fan of Salomon XA Pro 3D Gore-Tex trail running shoes -

I own the previous version of these (V8) and I find them very waterproof (daily dog walking on hail, rain or shine in Galway). Salomon do a Gore-Tex and a non-Gore-Tex version, so obviously it's the Gore-Tex version you want.

You might be able to pick up the previous version or current version on somewhere like SportsShoes.com for cheaper than direct from Salomon.

Yes, I use Merrell for walking and hiking and they are great.

I’ve had Grisport Dartmoor walking shoes for a few years now and cannot fault them. Waterproof, leather uppers……not trendy looking but keep my feet dry. They use their own version of Goretex and it works. Leather can be treated to make them more waterproof with the likes of mink oil etc. Sturdy, feel great.

I’ll buy another pair when they wear out. Great for light trails and long distance walks.

I use Vivobarefoot shoes for hiking and other outdoor activities. They have waterproof options which are really great. I've been using mine for the last 2-3 years and they are still in great shape.
